I am the Head of School at Oak Hill School in Eugene, Oregon. Before returning to the West Coast, I led Davidson Day School in North Carolina.
Originally from Australia, I moved to England at 18 to pursue a professional soccer career. During that time, I worked as a teacher’s assistant at a boarding school and discovered a passion for education. Returning to Australia, I shifted my focus to teaching, earning degrees in education, special education, and school administration. My teaching journey began in 1998 as a fourth-grade teacher in a public school. After several years, I joined Sydney Grammar School, one of Australia’s leading independent schools, teaching fifth grade.
In 2008, before relocating to California with my wife, I took a sabbatical, experiencing the beauty of Hawaii’s North Shore and exploring the U.S. mainland. By 2009, we had settled in the San Francisco Bay Area, where I taught fourth grade at The Nueva School, a progressive institution for gifted students. My administrative career began at the Chinese American International School in San Francisco, where I served as Lower School Director and Assistant Head of School. After four years, I became Head of Lower School and Assistant Head of School at Lake Forest Country Day School, grateful for the opportunity to work with such an exceptional team.
Leading schools has been an incredibly rewarding journey, both personally and professionally, and I look forward to the opportunities ahead.
About this Site
Early in my teaching career, I recognized the impact that a kind, patient, and brave school leader can have on a community. I worked with school leaders who inspired me and who encouraged me to be the best I could be. They shared their knowledge, expertise, and experience, and they shaped me as a person and educator. I love being an educator, connecting with others and sharing ideas. This passion led to the launch of my first teaching website in 2007. As a school administrator, I created this website as a place to share the the ideas and resources that have inspired and helped me in the hope that they will do the same for others.
