I am currently Interim Head of School at Oak Hill School in Eugene, Oregon. I was born and raised in Australia and traveled to England at age eighteen to pursue my goal of becoming a professional soccer player. In the process, I worked as a teacher's assistant at a boarding school and fell in love with teaching. I returned to Australia with a new goal, that of becoming an elementary school teacher. Over the course of the next thirteen years, I completed degrees in teaching, special education, and school administration. I started my first teaching job as a fourth-grade teacher in 1998 at a public school. After four and a half years, I began teaching fifth grade at Sydney Grammar School, the premier independent school in Australia.

In July of 2008, before moving to California with my wife, I enjoyed a sabbatical that enabled me to surf the North Shore of Hawaii, snorkel among giant sea turtles, and explore the big cities and back roads of the U.S. mainland. At the start of the 2009-2010 school year, my wife and I settled in the San Francisco Bay Area. I was fortunate to work for two years as a fourth-grade teacher at The Nueva School, a nationally recognized progressive school serving gifted and talented students. All of these opportunities led to the Chinese American International School (CAIS) in San Francisco and my first school administrative position as Lower School Director and then Assistant Head of School. After four years at CAIS, I accepted the position of Head of Lower School at Lake Forest Country Day School (LFCDS), and I was thankful to be working alongside such an outstanding and dedicated faculty.

My time as a school leader has been an incredibly formative period, both personally and professionally, and I am excited about what the future holds. ~ Pete Moore

About this Site
Early in my teaching career, I recognized the impact that a kind, patient, and brave school leader can have on a community. I worked with school leaders who inspired me and who encouraged me to be the best I could be. They shared their knowledge, expertise, and experience, and they shaped me as a person and educator. I love being an educator, connecting with others and sharing ideas. This passion led to the launch of my first teaching website in 2007. As a school administrator, I created this website as a place to share the the ideas and resources that have inspired and helped me in the hope that they will do the same for others.
